Abstract: The paper aims at achieving two objectives: identifying why it is important to increase managerial capabilities in financial monitoring-and-evaluating activities in Indonesian Garment Medium Scale Manufacturers (IGMS); determining how a hybrid Knowledge-based System (KBS) can help improve the first objective. Observations and in-depth interviews are presented on four IGMSs. The analyses of literature review indicate that the integration of various Artificial Intelligence methods is an adequate approach for complex problem solving. This leads to an idea to combine the earlier KBS work with the more recent work of Financial Statements Analysis (FSA) methods.
