Abstract: Sorption of Methylene Blue (MB) was studied using zeolite (ZFA) synthesised from Bagasse Fly Ash (BFA). Sugar industry waste, BFA, was effectively and efficiently used to synthesise zeolite by alkaline hydrothermal method. ZFA and BFA were characterised using various techniques such as X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Batch sorption studies were conducted to evaluate the effect of various operational variables such as pH, sorbent dose, contact time, temperature and initial MB concentration, affecting the mechanistic purpose of ZFA for removal of MB. Equilibrium sorption data on ZFA were analysed by Freundlich, Langmuir, Dubinin–Radushkevich (D–R) and Temkin isotherm equations. The D–R isotherm best-fits the equilibrium data for sorptive removal of MB by ZFA.
