Business positioning through advanced materials

Abstract: In the effort to increase their market share, manufacturing companies are increasingly making use of 'advanced' materials. This article considers advanced applications of metals, ceramics and polymers from the different perspectives of the aerospace and automotive markets. Consideration is given to factors determining the strategy of companies using advanced materials in their products.
