Characterization of fine metal powder binders for diamond tools

Abstract: This paper presents the main characteristics and characterization methods of metal powders (Co, Fe and bronze) using as binders for diamond tools. Also, the features of metal binder composition after hot pressing of diamond tools are given. The conclusion concerning the phase distribution of metal binder are drawn and the polymorphic shapes of phases being present in binder matrix and grain diamond interface are established by microchemical and X-Ray crystal analysis.
