Abstract: The new metallurgical process – electroslag melting of pre reduced pellets in a mould is described. The process permits to produce high-quality alloyed steel with minimum quantity of detrimental impurities. The development and implementation of electroslag remelting of pre reduced pellets in a mould make it possible to solve the problem of creating a continuous steelmaking process based on a metallisation shaft furnace and electroslag method: iron ore-pre reduced pellets-steel.
