Abstract: The plasma transferred arc (FTA) powder cladding process is widely used to manufacture and repair various components where sufficient wear and/or corrosion resistance is required. The process has many advantages, such as low dilution, wide range availability of powder filler materials, and ease of automation. In this paper, micro-PTA powder cladding on a hot work tool steel was investigated. Two powders were tested. The results demonstrated that micro-FTA is a feasible process for cladding hot work tool steels and can be used to repair precision components.
