Abstract: The scope of this paper is to stress the two important application areas of medical imaging such as Image-guided Neurosurgery and Image-guided Vascular Surgery through image-processing techniques under Cellular Neural Network (CNN) environment. In real-time, it is very important to have in computer-aided surgery using Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Positron Emission Tomography (PET), Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) and Ultrasonography with the help of digital image processing and analysis techniques. The significant advantage of virtual-reality-assisted surgery is to preoperatively plan a complex reconstruction, visualise the plan during the operation on the operative site and make correct comparisons between the preoperative plans qualitatively and quantitatively.
