Abstract: An increasing number of software simulation tools have been available for teaching computer concepts including hardware and software in undergraduate programmes. However, many of these tools do not help students to visualise system behaviour. This paper describes a multimedia web-based learning system which includes three simulators. It facilitates learning and conceptual understanding of computer data transfer principles in an efficient, direct, and long-lasting way. The authors' experience in using the tools shows the following benefits: support for different learning styles and learning speed, increased motivation for learning, and better understanding of concepts.
