Abstract: With recent advancements in the internet technologies, there have been many innovations in the way of achieving collaboration in engineering. Because contemporary manufacturing industries tend to acquire worldwide manufacturing facilities, it became more difficult to set up, control, maintain and optimise manufacturing resources on geographically distributed sites. However, little work has been done to facilitate those resources in global manufacturing settings until recently. An Ambient Intelligent Model (AIM) to remote resource control, which controls remote manufacturing resources using a general purpose web browser, has been implemented at the internet-enabled manufacturing environment. This research presents a framework and Java implementation of the proposed AIM concept in manufacturing.
