Abstract: In the present work, at first, the metal complexes [OsII (phen) 2 (phen-dione)](PF6)2.2H2O, [OsII (phen)(bpy) (phen-dione)](PF6)2.2H2O and [OsII (bpy)2(phen-dione)](PF6)2.2H2O, (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline, bpy = 2,2/: bipyridil and phen-dione = 1,10-phenanthroline-5,6-dione) have been synthesised as photo sensitizers for TiO2 semiconductor solar cells. Then, we have synthesised the TiO2 nanoparticle with ascorbic acid as the reducing agent. The particle size of TiO2 nanoparticle has been obtained about 20 nm. The optimum reaction conditions and the product obtained have been reported. At last, the reactivity and coordination between prepared TiO2 thin film and complexes have been studied. It was found that coordination between phen-dione complexes and TiO2 increases the intensity of electronic absorption. The surface topography and grain size of TiO2 nanoparticle and thin films were characterised and analysed with atomic force microscopy (AFM). Also, the products have been characterised by IR and UV-Vis spectroscopy. The structures of products were characterised by XRD. The reaction details and features were described and discussed.
