The transport of radioactive material
by Dorothee Nardi
International Journal of Nuclear Law (IJNUCL), Vol. 3, No. 1, 2010

Abstract: The first part of this study is devoted to the regulations on the safe transport of radioactive material. The rules applicable to the transport of radioactive material are analysed, along with their elaboration at the international, Community and French levels. The second part will describe the system of civil liability for nuclear damage and the rules applicable to the compensation of the victims of nuclear accidents, based on international Conventions. The rules specific to the transport of radioactive waste and effluents have not been the subject of a special study, because they are considered as simple nuclear material, and the examination of their transport should therefore be treated as a separate subject in its own right.
