Networking strategy and information system planning practices for e-business

International Journal of Management and Network Economics (IJMNE), Vol. 1, No. 4, 2009

Abstract: The nature of Information Systems (IS) for e-business is quite different from the IS at firm level and requires a different planning approach. The existing literature indicates that the IS planning processes will depend on the networking strategy adopted such as Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Supply Chain Management (SCM) and E-Commerce (EC). This research assimilates data on IS planning practices across 149 companies in India from the list of top 1000 companies. It then categorises the IS planning practices of these large-sized companies based on their networking strategy and attempts to give broad contours of a framework for IS planning practices for different e-business models.
