Science and technology centres as agents for promoting science culture in developing nations
by Leo Wee Hin Tan, R. Subramaniam
International Journal of Technology Management (IJTM), Vol. 25, No. 5, 2003

Abstract: The insertion of science and technology centres in the scientific and educational infrastructure of developing nations is suggested to be an effective way to promote a popular science culture among people, thus helping to catalyse a culture supportive of science and technology-driven socio-economic development. A framework for the setting up of such centres is presented in the context of national initiatives and/or international development assistance. The experiences of the Singapore Science Centre on some of the issues are discussed.
