International Journal of Logistics Systems and Management (IJLSM), Vol. 6, No. 2, 2010

Abstract: The increase of competition in freight container transport has led to a continuous search for improvements in the operational performance of terminals. Seeking to help terminals managers in the decision-making process, this paper presents a procedure to evaluate operational performance indexing the different logistic processes developed in those installations. The indexes proposed in this work are those related to the risks that loads stay in terminals for a longer time than it is really necessary. Due to the diverse nature of the characteristics that are being measured, the proposed procedure is based on a multi-criteria method.
