Abstract: The world is moving rapidly towards economic integration. Engineering standards and engineering education constitute a major tool in technically shaping economic integration. Civil engineering education and the profession are easier to unify, worldwide, than any other engineering field. The developing countries, the industrial world as well as the multinational corporations stand to benefit from such unification in education and technical standards. There are ways to bring about a worldwide unified engineering education, such as establishing an International Bureau of Engineering Technology and an International Bureau for Engineering Exchanges. The International Association for Continuing Engineering Education can play a leading role in establishing such organisations. Computers have become a powerful tool in solving all types of engineering problems. Therefore, civil engineering programs should be revised to include more intensified computer usage in solving civil engineering problems. The problem of crowded civil engineering programs can be solved by using computer-aided instruction in the process of civil engineering education, and as a tool to make the difficult subjects easier to understand. The question of which computer language is the best fit for civil engineering education should be addressed.
