Continuing education: the only way to survive

Abstract: This paper sets out to establish the importance of continuing education to businesses, and the benefits to individuals. The potential contributions to the competitiveness of businesses through efficient production and cost-effective utilisation of human resources are outlined. Evidence of the benefits to individuals through participation in CE is presented, comparing the situations in the USA and Finland.
