International Journal of Computer Applications in Technology (IJCAT), Vol. 15, No. 6, 2002

Abstract: In this paper, the use of a statistical and video electronic database by two NHL teams is discussed. We begin with an illustration of the type of information commonly recorded on hockey players. The research and development of new video and computer technology have enabled the expansion of these statistics, both in the capture and in the analysis, to a category called Third Generation Statistics. Of particular interest is the application of this new technology to assist in the coaching and routine management decisions.
