International Journal of Continuing Engineering Education and Life-Long Learning (IJCEELL), Vol. 3, No. 1/2, 1993

Abstract: In the UK, The Engineering Council is establishing a national system for the lifelong continuing professional development (CPD) of engineers and technicians. The author describes the framework for a National System for CPD as essentially a partnership between individual engineers and their employers; professional institutions and providers of CPD programs also have key roles to play. The benefits of investment in CPD should be: improved performance, job satisfaction and career advancement for individual engineers and technicians, and a more capable and innovative staff for employers.
