Concept mapping as a research tool: knowledge assessment in social science domain

Abstract: This study show different works done in the context of social sciences learning and teaching, which pose the concept maps methodology as an assessment and research tool more in agreement with the changes in the recent educational approaches. First, we present a general view of social science learning approach. Secondly, we show how concept maps can be an effective tool for research in this field and help to solve some difficulties of the more traditional techniques of knowledge assessment. Thirdly, we describe an application – an analogical assessment of conceptual knowledge with the methodology of concept maps, and their educational implications.
