Abstract: A novel approach for designing a robustly guaranteed cost controller via linear matrix inequality is proposed in this paper. A class of continuous time linear systems, with norm bounded time-varying uncertainties, in conjunction of the second order actuator's position and rate limited, are targeted in application. The sufficient condition for the existence of the guaranteed cost controller is derived, which is equivalent to the feasibility problem of a certain linear matrix inequality, therefore the controller can be parameterised. The approach is applied to design controller for a specified plant in initial bench tests. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed approach is effective and feasible.
