The cost to Australia of reducing greenhouse gas emissions
by Andrew Bain
International Journal of Environment and Pollution (IJEP), Vol. 3, No. 1/2/3, 1993

Abstract: Australia has a particular interest in the greenhouse issue and control of greenhouse gas emissions. Although the economy is reliant on energy-intensive industries, Australia has been one of those countries prepared to make substantial commitments to reducing emissions. This paper describes the potential impact on Australia of the cost of these commitments, with a particular focus on energy-related emissions of CO2. It briefly reviews the pattern of energy use in Australia, then looks at a number of studies of the rest of emissions control and concludes by making a comparison with some other countries and addressing some of the main policy issues.
