International Journal of Exergy (IJEX), Vol. 6, No. 4, 2009

Abstract: The present paper deals with a developed and improved approach for exergy analysis of the wind. Based on this model, a typical wind turbine model (Bergey Excel-S) is assumed to be installed in two cities in Iran. The results show that, with regard to the annual average wind data, if the wind turbine is installed in Tehran, by varying the cut in, rated and furling speeds from 3.1, 13.8 and 15.6 (m/s), to 2.53, 11 and 12.43 (m/s), respectively, the annual average produced power is increased by about 20% and the entropy generation is decreased about 76.9%.
