Abstract: Applications and developments of materials perform significant functions in accelerating the progress of surface engineering. Composite materials, nano-materials, amorphous materials, functional materials and other advanced materials have become the popular trend for utilising materials in surface engineering. Recently, surface engineering has been promoted by nanometre technology. The new achievement of nano-surface engineering such as nano-thermal spraying, nano-brush plating, nanocomplex additive, nano-tribological dry film and nano-adhesive technologies are introduced in this paper. Nano-surface engineering will enrich the concept of surface engineering and has shown powerful vital force in industry field.
