Abstract: The aim of this paper is to develop a tentative approach for design of a novel Multi-Medium Coupling Dynamic Vibration Absorber (MMCDVA). A complex coupling model of this Dynamic Vibration Absorber (DVA) is built for the demand of dynamic attenuation. It includes the coupling of quadratic damping, viscosity damping, Coulomb damping and nonlinear spring. The approximate theoretical calculating formulae are deduced by combining non-dimension transform, LAPLACE transform method. Analytical results are illustrated to show that the multi-damping-medium coupling DVA has a good dynamic performance and controllable design-capability. It builds a basis for future work of design of this novel MMCDVA.
