Specialised medical training in the Spanish Health System: a critical analysis

Abstract: The manner in which specialised medical training positions have been and are still being offered, by means of the MIR system, has given rise to an important imbalance between employment and training for medical specialists over the years. This situation is the result of inadequate planning, characterised by a lack of anticipation and excessive short-term orientation on the part of the decision makers. In this article, we present a critical analysis of the current training system and elaborate a simulation model, observing the possible evolution in the number of doctors.
