Traditional Business Intelligence vis-a-vis real-time Business Intelligence

Abstract: Thanks to real-time Business Intelligence, the latest research and practice confirm the need for business process centric applications that require better integration of Business Intelligence (BI) solutions with intra- and inter-organisational business processes operating in real time. Companies have understood the importance of enforcing achievements of the goals defined by their business strategies through real-time-driven business solutions. Real-time business intelligence is irrevocably changing the way that businesses do. The paper presents traditional and real-time business intelligence and their role in business firms. It describes the insights on the role and requirement of real-time BI by examining the business needs.
