Abstract: Outsourcing has become an important strategy for many organisations. In the last two or three decades, the importance of outsourcing worldwide has increased considerably. The scope of activities outsourced by companies has increased, as well as the complexity of outsourcing activities. This paper reports on data pertaining to outsourcing, collected from a survey conducted in 2006 in Slovenia. Our paper explores the outsourcing decisions and reasons for outsourcing. The most important reason was cost reduction – which is considerably above the European average – and higher quality level of services; the least important was sales of equipment to insourcer.
