International Journal of Power Electronics (IJPELEC), Vol. 1, No. 3, 2009

Abstract: This paper presents the performance of the capacitor charging type inverters. The inverter uses the voltage and current feedback and produces a desired voltage at the output by suitably charging/discharging a capacitor. An inductor is connected in series to limit the charging/discharging current. Both single and three phase inverters are considered. A small signal analysis is presented to investigate the stability of such inverter. A simple procedure to design the inductor and capacitor in the inverter is presented. The controller operates the system in the peak current limited mode. Supporting simulation and experimental results are presented to validate the usefulness of such inverters.
