Abstract: The demands on surface quality are increasing continuously. This causes high demands on the machining processes. Especially for grinding, conditioning is of great importance for the surface roughnesses that are to be generated. The conditioning process consists of trueing and sharpening and depends on workpiece material, abrasive grain, bond type and grinding wheel profile. The basic types of dressing tools and their corresponding parameters will be presented in this paper. The aim of this paper is to give an overview on existing and new conditioning processes.
