by Eckart Uhlmann, Vanja Mihotovic
International Journal of Mechatronics and Manufacturing Systems (IJMMS), Vol. 1, No. 4, 2008

Abstract: A significant driver in research activities of manufacturers and university institutions is the improvement of productivity in abrasive machining processes. This paper gives an insight into innovative grinding concepts, which have demonstrated significant potential for specific machining tasks. Examples of numerical simulations of abrasive processes, which improve knowledge regarding the fundamental process principles are given. In addition, high-performance cutting tools that could be realised enabled by the latest developments in grinding and preparation technologies are discussed.
