Abstract: Many researchers and practitioners at home and abroad were overwhelmingly amazed by the superficial fact why China has been able to achieve a double-digit economic growth rate for over 20 years. They have taken a keen interest in China-related issues and labelled China as the most typical representative in the 'emerging economy'. Actually, Chinese manufacturing has already encountered numerous bottlenecks for further development. The authors of this paper are trying to pierce the mysterious veil of Chinese manufacturing and restore a genuine and realistic condition of Chinese manufacturing. They argue that if China wants to maintain its economic development, it must transform its current manufacturing development mode and implement service-embedded manufacturing (SEM). Otherwise China would plunge itself into a real horrible situation and the accomplishment obtained in the last three decades would topple down overnight.
