Abstract: With the rapid commercialisation of the internet (i.e., e-commerce) and the introduction of new applications (e.g., internet telephony and video conferencing), the Quality of Service (QoS) in the internet is becoming a reality. So, the current flat-rate accounting system with the traditional internet service, which is called best-effort services, needs to be updated or replaced. This paper aims to get a richer understanding of internet accounting taxonomy, such as parameters, attributes, records, protocols and metering tools. We also investigate the current status of works (projects) for designing new Internet Accounting Systems (IASs).
