Application of data exchange standards to improve shipbuilding productivity

Abstract: There is a constant need to exchange product model data for ships between different computer aided design, computer aided engineering, computer aided manufacturing, and other technical and business systems. The development of an international standard is underway to facilitate ship product model data exchange among business partners and their customers. The standards development effort has progressed to the point that it is possible to demonstrate the data models and improve the standards before international balloting.
