Abstract: Many products (including automobiles) are sold with two-dimensional warranties. Warranty data is the data collected during the servicing of failures under warranty and can be used to estimate the reliability of the product and of its components. In this paper we discuss the challenges in the estimation of reliability based on warranty data and propose a method for estimating component reliability using an accelerated life test model.
