Abstract: Zirconia composites with 40 vol% TiCN were proven to be feasible for wire electrical discharge machining (EDM). Optimum material removal rates were assessed. The material removal mechanisms were elucidated. Gradually finer EDM regimes improved the surface quality considerably. Dry sliding frictional characteristics of ZrO2-TiCN against WC-Co cemented carbide were evaluated.
