by Vytautas Reklaitis, Darius Zabiela
International Journal of Knowledge and Learning (IJKL), Vol. 4, No. 2/3, 2008

Abstract: The paper describes a web service-based notification system that was developed in the scope of the European Learning Grid Infrastructure (ELeGI) project. ELeGI is a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) for learning services provision and, due to its purpose, is different from grid computing architectures. The notification service not only has to pass messages between services, but also provide a convenient way to notify Virtual Learning Community (VLC) members. We present the design of the notification service and an experimental usage case in the context of ELeGI.
