Cultural tourism: from culture fruition to culture communication and production

Abstract: Cultural tourism is a sector of growing importance for local development, and demands promotional actions especially for its complex impacts. Cultural landscape and tourism are indeed strictly connected and produce altogether many positive impacts. By contrast, many values can be lost as a consequence of uncontrolled tourist pressure. In the light of these general remarks, in this paper the author develops his reflections on possible paths towards sustainable tourism by presenting the contents of a strategic plan able to catalyse urban development, culture and sustainability.
