Model recovery technique from reduced model

Abstract: The paper developed a model recovery technique from a reduced model. A reduced model, either from testing or structure analysis, can be recovered to a full structure model by operating the reduced model and a structure finite element model. The paper discussed accuracy of the model recovery technique for different model reduction methods, such as static model reduction, dynamic model reduction, and modal model reduction. The choice of master degree-of-freedom for a reduced model is critical for model recovery accuracy. A uniformly distributed reduced model keeping structure's dynamic characteristic well recovered to original model. A local concentrated reduced model could recover the whole model's modal shape and local responses but brings significant error for response at points far away from the concentrated area. A bridge model was provided in this paper to explain the choice of master degree-of-freedom and model recovery.
