Abstract: This paper describes the current state of the art for integrated mechatronic systems in car transmission applications. Recent development for the new ZF 6-speed transmissions 6HP-26/32 are presented and compared with the mechatronic module for the ZF continuously variable transmission CFT-23. It is shown that individual system requirements concerning environmental conditions and spatial situations yield completely different solutions. Additionally, a new approach to housing and sealing technologies, resulting from the joint research project VEMECH, supported by the German Ministry of Education and Research, is presented in order to demonstrate new concepts for mechatronic modules.
