Internet implemented protocols and systems for apprentice training management

Abstract: The Apprenticeship Training Management System (ATMS) is a web-based system developed for the Board of Apprenticeship Training, Southern Region (BOAT SR). The system is developed to computerise the various processes related to Apprenticeship Training with a capability of maintaining pertinent information, documenting details of inbound correspondence and generating appropriate reports as well as all other outbound correspondences. ATMS provides a user-friendly password-secured interface for facilitating the automation of the daily activities of BOAT SR. It comprises a collection of computerised forms, which meticulously collect varied yet vital information regarding respective industries and students who wish to join BOAT. The system has been designed using the popular Model – View – Controller design pattern. The use of the pattern has led to the separation of the application's data model; user interface and control logic into three distinct components and the modifications to one component has minimal impact on other components. The advantages experienced by the end users are no loss of data, duplication identification and prevention, minimising time delay and other problems faced during manual processing.
