Abstract: Mixed thin-walled structures have been widely applied in automotive technology and arouse a lot of interesting, such as sheet-beam structure and varying cross-section beams. Two of distinct classes of finite element models can be used to support the design and analysis of such structures: detailed models and concept models. This paper presents a method to generate the concept models for the mixed thin-walled structures, such concept models are validated through structural and NVH analyses. Although the discussion is based on specific structure models, the conclusions are generic and applicable to other mixed thin-walled structures of the same nature.
