Feature extraction for classification and retrieval of mammogram in databases

Abstract: Content-based image retrieval (CBIR) methodology is used in the retrieval of mammograms images. In the first stage, we examine the shape, statistical and textural features of mammograms and construct a feature descriptor. Next, feature descriptor is used in the CBIR system. We have developed a novel technique for both the detection and classification of micro calcification and mass structures in mammogram images.
