A systemic approach to addressing HIV/AIDS in the informal economy in Zambia: methodological pluralism revisited

Abstract: This paper discusses the development of a systemic approach to exploring issues relating to HIV/AIDS in the informal economy in Zambia. Our use of various methodological approaches – as part of the research design as a whole – was (re)tuned to cater specifically for our acknowledgement of our own and others' complicity in the unfolding of emergent situations. We argue that a plurality of research methodologies can be used in a responsible way by moulding/reframing what can be taken as 'available' methodologies so as to include a (freshly) considered intervention/action component related to their use in context.
