Abstract: This Paper describes the hydraulic design of a pump impeller using Mathematical Techniques. The pump characteristics are analysed using a CFD package and Matrix Laboratory (MATLab) software to provide the output parameters, which exhibit the efficiency of the pump (η), inlet (β1) and outlet vane angle (β2), number of blades (Z), specific speed (n) and Water Horse Power (WHP) etc. The Matlab output is imported into AutoCAD from which the coordinates are measured to provide the necessary input to the CFD packages. The program input can be varied from minimum customer specifications to a large number of defined parameters.
