Abstract: This report summarises discussion of the Energy Security Symposium hosted by the Australian Institute of International Affairs and the Australian Homeland Security Research Centre in October of 2006. Six broad themes are addressed: energy security, Australian self-sufficiency, the opportunity for Australia to benefit from energy exports, climate change, free market mechanisms, and the importance of investors over government actors.
