Abstract: The paper deals with theoretical solution and further calculation of hydrodynamic pressures in a thin lubrication film that divides two roughened opposite surfaces. A spatial two-dimensional transient lubrication model of such sliding surfaces with a sinusoidal profile was developed and applied in this context. Each of the surfaces was described by sinusoids, which may have different wavelengths in the x- and y-directions, but they have the same wavelength characteristics in identical directions. The travelling wave solution was used. Parametric calculations show a significant positive effect of roughness with a small number of peak-hollow waves, the effect vanishes when the wave number exceeds 450.
