Faculty, are you ready for mobile learning? E-learners say they are geared up and ready to engage

Abstract: Over the past decade, mobile computing and communication devices have become essential tools in higher education. It is now routine for educators and students to carry laptops, cell phones and Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) that allow them to access data and information from anywhere – whether in a classroom, in a meeting or while on the move. This paper examines the benefits and challenges of mobile learning, the most common mobile devices and how they can be used to facilitate learning, and the pedagogical implications of mobile learning. The results of a survey on mobile technologies will also be presented.
