Abstract: Modelling aspects of steady and unsteady states of transmission systems with hydrodynamic torque converter are presented. Owing to a high degree of complexity of a mathematical model, it is necessary to apply numerical methods. This paper discusses calculation procedures dependent on the type of input data. The main emphasis was placed on determining the calculated dimensionless steady state characteristics of a hydrodynamic transmission system. These characteristics are widely used by construction and fabrication engineers. The theoretical analysis of the methods used in the design process of a hydrodynamic transmission system for heavy excavation machinery were illustrated by application examples.
