by Stanko Strmcnik
International Journal of Technology Transfer and Commercialisation (IJTTC), Vol. 1, No. 3, 2002

Abstract: In the paper, a virtual organisation for exchange of knowledge and transfer of technology which has been working for more than ten years is introduced. The organisation (named The Process Control Technology Vertical - TechVert) consists of two laboratories from a university, one department from a state-owned institute and a small high-tech company. The paper presents motives for its introduction, its structure, its mission, the principles of organisation and management, the mechanisms for knowledge exchange and technology transfer, and means for the maintenance of the ''culture of cooperation'. Special emphasis is given to the analysis of the advantages and drawbacks of this kind of cooperation and to the relation of the presented approach to some other, more established technology transfer models.
