Abstract: For lean practitioners, lean simulation games play an important role at the early training stage. The interactive simulation effectively conveys lean concepts via semi-hands-on experiences in a classroom setting; however, it cannot be performed with fewer than minimum participants on site. Furthermore, additional efforts are required, including preparations and bookkeeping. This paper proposes two types of web-based lean simulation games to enhance the accessibility and functionality of the training programmes. First, the web-aided lean simulation employs a web-based Kanban system to interact with physical lean games. The system regulates the procedure and records performance metrics automatically to eliminate non-value-adding efforts. Another solution, the web-based lean simulation, facilitates online virtual simulation games allowing participants at different locations to be trained together. Moreover, fewer than suggested number of participants can run the programme by interacting with virtual players simulated by the server.
